Location & Travel Information
Overbigging is conveniently located for the tourist in the centre of the ‘Mainland’. It is surrounded by farm land with the out buildings now only used for storage.
There is a Garage/General Store in Stenness Village about a mile and a half away, where the Standing Stones Hotel serves excellent bar food and evening meals.
The farm’s land runs down to the Harray loch which is believed by many to have Orkney’s best trout fishing. Fishing in Orkney is effectively free although it is appreciated if a donation is made to the Orkney Trout Fishing Association. You are free to keep your catch but please exercise reason.
Orkney is a great place for those that love the outdoors. There are several RSPB reserves and many fantastic coastal walks. One holiday is simply not enough as some of the smaller islands also warrant a visit.
You will find a large selection of tourist information in the house which will help you discover everything Orkney has to offer.
